Annotation: The effects of the turbulent economic environment are reflected to an extremely large extent. In terms of both economic and socio-economic impacts, there are a number of new processes that, in addition to innovative technologies, have had a significant impact on the organization of work in small and mediumsized enterprises. The importance of interdisciplinary competences is demonstrated by the ever-increasing trend due to the need to adapt workers; skills and abilities to different professions, which includes retraining current workers to the conditions of the digital economy. It is also considered important in the future that the competencies of employees are in line with expectations and their tasks. In addition to recruiting and hiring new talented companies, enterprises must place emphasis on retraining existing employees as well as reworking current work processes. The SME sector needs a workforce that can think systematically, adapt quickly to new things.
